Yulan is a textured neck warmer inspired by the magnolia in my front garden. It is a raised diamond with a small “round” centre like a forming bud containing a stamen ball. It is designed to be a snug, turtle neck style. If you would like to make your cowl wider you can do so by foundation chaining extra multiples of 8. Yulan is graded as an intermediate level pattern but once you have the stitch memorised it is an easy repeat.

Materials needed:
Yulan was designed to make a cowl using a any weight of yarn. The sample used 4 ply/fingering weight 100 g (1 ball) of natural White Gum Wool. Using 3 and 3.5mm hooks the finished size of the sample is approximately 26h x 28w cm after blocking.
Stitch marker to mark your first st.
Wool/darning needle to sew in your ends/tails.
